PLACES TO VISIT IN LA SALLÉ

LaSalle, Illinois, is a city located in LaSalle County. The city is located near the intersection of Interstates 39 and 80. It is a part of the Ottawa, IL Micropolitan Statistical Area. It was platted over an area of one square mile in 1837.

Catlin County Park

One of the best places in LA Salle for a day of hiking is Catlin County Park, a 333-acre park owned by the LaSalle County Conservation District. The park offers well-maintained trails that wind through diverse habitats and several streams. The park also offers restrooms and horseback riding.

The park is open to the public May to October. Visitors will find a unique mix of habitats in the park, including oak-hickory forest, maple-basswood-dominated steep ravines, and tallgrass prairie. Among the plants and trees are cottonwood, sycamore, ash, basswood, maple, and black cherry. The area also has a variety of birdlife, including cavity nesters and songbirds.

LaSalle County is home to numerous state parks, including Buffalo Rock State Park and Illini State Park. In addition, the county is located near the Illinois and Michigan Canal State Trail and the Lake Kakusha Nature Preserve. Whether you want to go hiking or exploring, LaSalle has plenty to offer.

Streator

If you’re looking for a place to go fishing, Streator may be the place for you. This four-square-block urban preserve contains a public amphitheater, a splash park, restrooms, and picnic shelters. It’s also home to several memorials. In addition, the park is set aside as an urban forest preserve.

Streator’s economic history is tied to its natural resources. The city’s early economy was fueled by coal mining. It also had silica deposits, which were used in glass-container manufacturing. Today, this industry is still a prominent presence in Streator. Other industries include heavy equipment manufacturing and food distribution.

Visitors to La Salle County will be able to find several outdoor attractions and a wonderful boutique shopping district. Streator also has numerous murals that tell the town’s history. The town’s T’s Midwest Boutique offers a variety of special services, including wardrobe consultations and gift cards.

Streator is just 25 minutes from Starved Rock State Park, one of the most popular state parks in Illinois. It also has two public golf courses, a famous historical home and gardens, and a thriving arts scene. Its downtown is also home to more than 20 murals.

The Vermillion River is an excellent place to go fishing. The area’s many eddies and slack pools make for a fantastic fishing experience. It also has rocky shorelines. The Vermillion River starts as two creeks in Ford County and deepens as it rolls through Pontiac and Matthiessen State Park. It empties into the Illionois River near La Salle/Peru.

For a family-friendly atmosphere, Streator has a few parks that are well maintained. A nearby park is Starved Rock, which is a great place for hiking and nature walks. You can also visit Matthiessen State Park, which has beautiful trails and scenery. There are a number of parks in the area, so you should be able to find one close to your home.

The downtown area has several restaurants and shops. The town’s downtown area is home to a large ice cream parlor and a craft beer bar. It also features antiques, handmade goods, and vintage items.

August Hill Tasting Room

The August Hill Tasting Room, LA SALLÉ is a charming winery in the heart of downtown Utica. Visitors can sample the various wines and purchase them. You’ll also find the August Hill Vineyard on the property. Located on the southern side of the Illinois River, the vineyard was planted in 2003 by family members and friends. Each hole for planting the vines was dug by hand. This unique vineyard is located near Pulaski, Illinois and is home to two award-winning wines.
